Lattice, Ladder, Path or Plan: Career Development Solutions

Can careers really be managed anymore? There is no simple, linear path to career nirvana these days — but that doesn’t stop employees from hoping for it. Whether a straight shot from the mailroom to the corner office ever really existed is debatable. Yet it’s undeniable that today’s workers are on a zig-zag career trajectory, and they’re not sure they like the ride. We recently brought together a diverse group of HR leaders to ask them these very questions. That conversation, and our thoughts about where the career management debate is headed, are summarized in this paper.
